Add a delay between the reference and verse when listening to verses via audio

Hi.

First of all amazing app. Thank you. I primary use Listen to the verses in sequence while washing dishes, lying in bed at nigh, working in the garden etc. I actually cannot wait to go and wash dishes, because it is my Memorize Verses time.

One thing that would be nice to have for a future version would be a delay between the Reference and the Verse.

Example:
In the settings area for voice an extra field for this feature. Delay between the two in seconds. I would typically set it to 5 or maybe 10 seconds. Default can be the current one.

Practical use..
Step 1: The voice says the reference , Step 2: [The Pause] - Here I say the verse in my head first, Step 3: The voice says the verse.

Now I know if I know it or not. By trying to say the verse while she is speaking is difficult and sometimes , I still try to remember then she starts speaking.

Just an idea for a possible addition.

Two things that already exist, so you know where your idea fits:

There's already a short (₁ second) pause built in between the reference and the passage — so the mechanism for a gap is there; you're asking to make it longer and adjustable.
In the speech settings (the ⚙️ cog next to the playback controls) there's a "Pause between verses (in seconds)" value. Important caveat: that one is the gap between verses, not between the reference and the passage — so it doesn't yet do what you want, but it's the same kind of control.

So your request — a configurable pause between the reference and the passage so you can recite it yourself first — is a clean extension of what's already there, and it fits your hands-free use perfectly. With "Learn with Reference" turned on, playback is already reference → passage → reference, so a longer, adjustable gap after that first reference would give you exactly the self-test loop you describe. I've noted it as a candidate.

One thing I'd value your opinion on: a fixed pause is simple, but everyone needs a different amount of thinking time, and some verses are longer than others. So we're also weighing a headphone/earbud-button (or a single screen tap) to advance only when you're ready — true audio flashcards. For your dishwashing/gardening sessions, would an adjustable fixed pause be enough, or would "continue when I press the button" actually suit you better?

A fixed pause setting would be great. I actually never used any buttons on my wireless earphones (the Big ones) will be a thing to sort out what button does what. (That would be a secondary nice to have)

The default can be 0 (Normal use as now) , then I would set it to typically 5 seconds, maybe longer. Will see if I need longer for longer verses.

I use the application for more than just verses.

I primary memorize KJV scripture. So I add the archaic word in the reference field and the modern english in the verse field.

Example : Reference => abhor
Verse => To regard with horror or loathing; detest.

Other biblical info like you did with New Testament Books.

I would add something like : Reference => The Seven Churches in Revelation
Verse => Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea

The names of the different baptisms in the bible etc.

That is why I love the program so much. There is a lot of flexibility.

Another thing I through about is maybe a restore to defaults feature later on for those that forget what the settings was. But this is totally on a seperate ticket maybe later.
