How to end 'search'?

Maybe a dumb question, but I didn't find the answer. I did a search within my new text using a search word in the search box on top. This returned the search results fine. But now I want to return to the full list and I can not find how to do that. A new search gives an empty search box, but after a <return> you again get the filtered results with the search term appearing again between '<< >>'. What am I missing? Backspaces do not work. Help!

In newer versions of the app (Remember Me 6.4 and higher) there are no '<< >>' anymore. The search box stays open, and you can cancel the search by clicking the X mark.

Thank you so much. I installed the latest version now. However, I'm not a big fan of the new screen layout, also because the reference is shown first, whereas this is what you like to memorie also. So, how can I get back to a screen layout like e.g. in Version 5.5.16 where the topic is shown first and the verse reference after?

There is a setting in menu/Account "Learning by Topic" that does exactly that.
